MTN Nigeria has officially restored its XtraTime service, bringing much-needed relief to millions of subscribers who rely on the airtime advance feature during emergencies and periods of low balance.
The service, which allows eligible customers to borrow airtime and data and repay on their next recharge, was temporarily suspended following a new compliance requirement introduced by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
The company had previously announced the suspension in a notice signed by its Company Secretary, Uto Ukpanah, stating:
“MTN Nigeria Communications PLC hereby notifies the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public that the company has temporarily suspended its airtime and data credit advance service (‘XtraTime’).”
However, MTN has now confirmed the full restoration of the service through a text message sent directly to subscribers, informing them that they can once again access airtime loans.
The notification message reads:
“Good news! Airtime loan is back! Access up to N1,295 loan when you dial *303# and stay connected.”
