The Ondo State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of CP Felix Ohagwu as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state.
His appointment follows a recent posting approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of efforts to strengthen internal security and improve policing operations across the country.
CP Ohagwu takes over from former Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, who was commended for his contributions toward maintaining peace and security in Ondo State during his tenure.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the new police commissioner is a highly experienced officer with more than three decades of service in the Nigeria Police Force.
The statement noted that he has served in several operational, investigative and administrative positions across the country, earning recognition for professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty.
Upon assuming office, CP Ohagwu pledged to strengthen the existing security architecture in Ondo State and intensify efforts toward the protection of lives and property. He assured residents that the command under his leadership would adopt proactive policing strategies, intelligence-driven operations and stronger collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders to combat crime and criminality.
The commissioner also emphasized his commitment to transparency, accountability and respect for human rights in the discharge of police duties. He stated that officers and men of the command would continue to uphold ethical conduct, integrity and professionalism in line with global best practices in policing.
CP Ohagwu expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him through the appointment. He also praised his predecessor for his dedicated service and efforts in sustaining peace, security and stability within the state.
The Ondo State Police Command further called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information capable of aiding crime prevention. Members of the public were encouraged to report security-related matters through the commissioner’s official contact line and the command’s communication channels.
