Two young Fulani herders abducted by suspected kidnappers in a forest along the Ondo-Edo boundary have been rescued by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps.
The victims, identified as Abubakar Umaru and Adulahi Umaru, were reportedly tending cattle in the Owo axis when they were seized by their abductors and taken into a remote forest.
Their rescue followed a report by their parents after the boys failed to return home with their cattle.
Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the agency immediately launched a search operation, which led to the recovery of all the missing cattle before operatives intensified efforts to locate the abducted herders.
The search team tracked the kidnappers to the Abuja Forest along the Ondo-Edo border, where the victims were found and rescued unharmed after the suspects fled the area.
Adeleye said the operation was intelligence-driven and credited timely information from members of the public for its success.
He reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to protecting all residents of the state without discrimination and vowed to sustain the crackdown on kidnappers and other violent criminals across Ondo State.
The successful operation adds to the Amotekun Corps’ ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping and improve security through coordinated intelligence-led interventions.
