He stated that the U.S. has already met its primary military goals and is close to reaching a permanent peace agreement with Tehran.
The breakthrough follows a last-minute mediation effort by Pakistan. Iran submitted a 10-point proposal that the U.S. considers a “workable basis” for final negotiations. Trump had previously warned that without a deal, the conflict could lead to the destruction of an “entire civilization.
“This 14-day window is intended to give both nations time to finalize and sign a long-term peace treaty. Trump described the move as a “double-sided ceasefire” aimed at ensuring lasting stability in the Middle East.
