‎Security Forces Rescue Kidnapped Victims During Forest Raid‎

A major breakthrough in the fight against banditry was achieved this weekend as a combined team of security operatives successfully rescued 20 kidnap victims following a fierce gun battle.
‎
‎The coordinated operation involved the FCT Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes.
‎
‎The mission was sparked by credible intelligence indicating that kidnapping suspects were fleeing ongoing security pressures in the Gauraka Forest of Niger State.
‎
‎The criminals had reportedly crossed into the Gidan Dogo and Kweri Forests in Kaduna State, trailing their victims through the dense terrain to evade capture.
‎
‎Acting swiftly on this lead, the Officer in Charge of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit led the tactical team deep into the forest on March 6th.
‎
‎Upon spotting the advancing operatives, the kidnappers opened fire, triggering an intense gun duel that lasted over ninety minutes.
‎
‎The security team eventually gained the upper hand through successfully subduing the criminal gang and neutralizing several suspects during the exchange. Two suspects, identified as Nura Sani and Abdul Bello, were apprehended at the scene.
‎
‎However, several other members of the gang managed to escape into the surrounding hills and thick vegetation, many of them reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds during the retreat.
‎
‎The primary success of the raid was the safe recovery of twenty victims, consisting of ten males and ten females. During the post-battle sweep of the hideout, security forces recovered a cache of weapons.
‎
‎The haul included an AK-47 rifle (breech number 90-17147), a magazine loaded with twenty rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a locally fabricated firearm used by the bandits.
‎
‎Following their rescue, the twenty victims were immediately evacuated from the forest and rushed to a medical facility, where they are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support to help them recover from the trauma of their captivity.
