Public support has continued to mount for activist and politician Omoyele Sowore following his recent detention, with concerned Nigerians describing the development as an attack on democratic values and freedom of expression.
Among those calling for his release is Bolaji Omotayo Daramola, who praised Sowore’s unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s development despite years of political challenges and confrontations with successive administrations. Daramola noted that Sowore’s commitment to national progress has remained steadfast in the face of adversity.
According to him, the activist’s resilience and determination have earned him admiration from many Nigerians who believe the country requires visionary leadership and courageous voices to help unlock its full potential.
He emphasized that Sowore has consistently championed accountability, good governance, and social justice.
Daramola described the recent detention as another attempt to suppress a genuine call for national transformation. He argued that efforts to silence individuals advocating for change would not diminish the validity of the issues they raise or weaken the resolve of those committed to reform.
He further stated that history has repeatedly shown that deeply held convictions cannot be easily extinguished.
In his view, temporary setbacks are unlikely to alter the message Sowore has championed over the years regarding transparency, citizens’ rights, and democratic governance.
Joining many other Nigerians in demanding action, Daramola called for the immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Sowore.
He stressed that protecting open dialogue, dissenting opinions and civic engagement remains essential for Nigeria’s democratic growth and long-term national development.
