Adeniyi Adeyemi, the head of a disputed body called the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), says he is avoiding the public solely for his own safety. Speaking in a telephone interview with Channels Television, he strongly denied that he is running away from law enforcement.
Adeyemi made his fears clear during the interview, stating:
“Definitely, I’m ready. I’m ready to show my face. I’m not hiding. I’m only fearing for my life because I have it on good authority that my life is in danger.”
He also claimed there have been multiple attempts on his life, adding, “And I’m ready for that. There are several attempts to… my life,” though he did not share specific details or name those he believes are behind the attacks.
This situation comes as a United States lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, announced its plans to help Adeyemi get political asylum and whistleblower protection in the U.S.
The firm’s representative, Dr. Von Batten, shared on social media that he spoke directly with Adeyemi and found him to be “sincere and credible.” According to the lobbyist, Adeyemi and his family are currently in hiding due to safety threats. The firm has started briefing senior members of U.S. President Donald Trump’s team and plans to approach the U.S. Congress regarding allegations Adeyemi has made against senior Nigerian officials.
While Adeyemi claims he is a target, the Nigerian Presidency maintains that the PFIPC is a completely fake, non-existent government agency.
The Nigeria Police Force is currently preparing to take Adeyemi to the Federal High Court in Abuja. He and two other suspects face eight charges, including forgery and impersonation. Investigators claim that before his arrest, Adeyemi was operating this unauthorized council from an office inside the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja.
