The one hundred and seventy six (176) women and children abducted from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom after spending six months in captivity.
The victims, who were allegedly held by terrorists suspected to be affiliated with Boko Haram, were released on Wednesday, bringing relief to their families and community members following months of uncertainty.
Speaking through a statement issued on Wednesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Communications, Ibraheem Abdullateef, announced that security forces successfully rescued the captives in Kwara North.
The state government expressed deep gratitude to the military and security personnel involved in the mission, while also acknowledging the federal government’s support.
The government also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the joint operational teams for the rescue.
State officials have not yet confirmed whether any casualties were recorded or if suspects were apprehended during the military action.
