Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong has condemned the current state of infrastructure in schools across Akwa Ibom state.
He made this known in a post on his Facebook account where he presented graphical evidence of a school in the state where students study under unfavourable conditions.
He said “This is the current state of infrastructure at the popular Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
”This is a public school located close to the State Secretariat. It is in the heart of the State Capital.”
Inibehe Effiong added that despite the huge allocations received by the state government, the state has continued to lack necessary infrastructure in an important sector like education.
He said “This is what education looks like in a State that has received over N2.53 trillion in the last 32 months.
”This is what public education looks like in an oil-rich State misruled by Governor Umo Eno. This is the State where the current Senate President comes from. The same State whose governor is using billions of public funds to buy exotic SUVs for politicians who are neither poor, nor immobile.”
In a related post, Inibehe Effiong claimed that the school was attended by the state’s current Commissioner for Education.
”I have confirmed that the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Essien Umoh, is an alumnus of this same school, Four Towns. Let that sink in for a moment.
”The man overseeing the Ministry of Education attended this same dilapidated school. I can assure you that he sleeps very well at night. What a shame!”
