National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) has taken action against poor manufacturing practices by sealing three alcoholic beverage factories in Jos, Plateau State.
The two factories, Bemag Industries Nigeria Limited and Good Life Global Beverages Limited were sealed for failing to adhere to good manufacturing practices.
Additionally, Stevenson Multi Global Limited was closed for producing banned alcoholic beverages in sachets, worth six million naira without NAFDAC registration.
The nationwide raid follows NAFDAC’s directive issued in 2018, mandating alcoholic beverage producers to stop manufacturing alcohol in 100ml, 30ml, 20 ml, and sachet forms by January 31, 2024.
According to NAFDAC, the measure aims to checkmate alcohol abuse, particularly among youths, in Nigeria.
