Super Eagles’ head coach, Éric Sékou Chelle, has announced a star-studded 23-man squad for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The new head coach, who will be making his debut as the Super Eagles’ handler will be hoping to maximum points in both matches to lift the country off its current position on the table which is not only poor but embarrassing to the star-studded team.
The Malian invited a host of players playing their club football across Europe and those playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will kick off the double header with a battle against Rwanda on Kigali on Friday, March 21, before returning home to host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25.
Eric Sekou Chelle invited three goalkeepers who are all playing within the Africa continent. They are Stanley Nwabali of Chippa United, South Africa, Amas Obasogie of Singida Black stars, Tanzania and Kayode Bankole of Remo Stars, Nigeria.
The invited defenders are William Ekong from Al-Kholood FC, Saudi Arabia, Bright Osayi-Samuel from Fenerbahce SK, Turkey, Bruno Onyemaechi from Olympiacos FC, Greece, Calvin Bassey from Fulham FC, England, Olaoluwa Aina from Nottingham Forest, England and Igoh Ogbu from SK Slavia Prague, Czech Republic.
The invited midfielders are Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City, England, Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge, Belgium, Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi from New England Revolution, USA, Alex Iwobi from Fulham FC, England, Joseph Ayodele-Aribo from Southampton FC, England and Papa Daniel Mustapha from Niger Tornadoes.
The invited forwards are Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan, Italy, Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray FC, Turkey, Ademola Lookman from Atalanta FC, Italy, Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen, Germany, Simon Moses from Nantes, France, Sadiq Umar from Valencia FC, Spain, Nathan Tella from Bayer Leverkusen, Germany and Tolu Arokodare from KRC Genk, Belgium.
