Lauds Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to women empowerment
Leaders and Residents of Àkúré North Local Government Area, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, say the impact of the Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up Project would not be lost on them as they would take advantage of it for their economic advancement.
During a community sensitisation and Advocacy visit to the council area led by the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Bosede Osamaye, the residents assured government that all hands will be on deck to ensure that the investment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in keying into the World Bank assisted Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up Project is not in vain.
Dr. Osamaye, who congratulated the people of Akure North on the selection of the Local Government as part of the first three benefiting Local Government Areas enlisted their cooperation for successful implementation of the project.She emphasised the importance of women empowerment in national development, insisting that the project is of a long term impact as against routine one-off initiatives commonly known in society.
Chairman of Àkúré North Local Government, Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for “embracing the impactful programme which would benefit our people across all levels. We are also very grateful for being selected to be part of the first beneficiaries of this initiative. I can assure His Excellency, the Governor of Ondo State and the officials here that in Akure North Local Government, under my leadership, this project will be highly successful.”
Senior Technical Adviser, Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up Project, Mr. Temitope Ayodele, encouraged the people to follow the guidelines for the implementation of the project towards enhancing its success. State Project Coordinator, Dr Mrs Jumoke Bakare, while highlighting the benefits of the scheme to residents of Oba Ile, also in Akure North Local Government Area, noted that the initiative is community driven and has no political undertone.
She advised the people to organise themselves and take advantage of the initiative. Detailing the step by step approach of the project, leader of the task team from Ogun State, Mrs Opeoluwa Asoro explained the importance of community ownership of the initiative.
She also took time to clarify grey areas needing further explanations. Leaders of the people, including traditional rulers, opinion and religious leaders as well as community representatives across the Local Government Area trooped out to attend the Community Sensitisation programme.
