Bus Terminals Will Reduce “One chance” Problems In Abuja – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has emphasised the importance of three ongoing bus terminal projects in Abuja, describing them as vital infrastructure aimed at curbing the threat of “one chance” crimes.

Wike spoke on Tuesday during an inspection of the Mabushi and Kugbo terminals as well as the access road to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal in Dakibiyu, all currently under construction.

The bus and taxi terminal projects, located in Mabushi, Central Area, and Kugbo were awarded in 2024 under Wike’s leadership as part of efforts to enhance transportation in the capital.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress, the minister praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its commitment to improving public transport.

He noted that the terminals would not only offer organised boarding points for commuters but also enhance safety and security across the city.

Wike said: “That, of course, will limit the incidence of ‘one chance’, criminals who posed as drivers to snatch passengers of their valuables.

“So that’s the sense of building these terminals, and also to clean up the city so we don’t have buses all over the road, turning every roadside to a motor park.

“We are happy that we’re providing this kind of infrastructure. You will agree with me that the bus terminal is a basic intervention for us to change our transport system.

“We’re quite impressed with what we have seen. I commend the contractors for a job well done. We will try as much as we can to make sure that the projects were delivered within the agreed timeline.”
