The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has mourned the death of five of its personnel who were hit and killed by motorists while on duty during the month of September

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed also ordered the immediate prosecution of all drivers responsible for the tragic incident while emphasising that such actions would serve as a deterrent against future incidents.

According to the body, yhe fatal accidents occurred across different formations: Ekiti Sector Command on September 6, Ogun Sector Command on September 8; Taraba Sector Command on September 15; Jos By-Pass Unit Command on September 19 and Obollo Afor Unit Command on September 24.

The Corps Marshal expressed deep concerns over the growing risks faced by FRSC personnel, including road crashes, kidnappings, violent attacks and targeted assaults.

He warned that the Corps would no longer tolerate acts of recklessness endangering its staff and urged operatives nationwide to remain vigilant and prioritise their safety while on duty.

He added that engagements with relevant authorities are being intensified to strengthen the protection of officers and FRSC installations.

The Corps Marshal commiserated with the families of the deceased officers, describing their deaths as a painful loss and saluting their sacrifice in service to the nation.
