The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area have been released by their captors.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police clarified that there has been no such development and urged members of the public to disregard the viral reports. According to the Command, the information being shared online is entirely unsubstantiated.
The police stressed that the victims remain in captivity and that efforts to secure their release are ongoing. The Command assured residents and the affected families that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers.DSP
Ayanlade stated that intensive and coordinated rescue operations are currently underway, with security personnel deploying all available human and operational resources to locate the victims and bring them back unharmed.
The Command further assured the public that those responsible for the abduction would be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law. It reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining security across the state.
While appreciating the concern shown by members of the public, the police cautioned against the spread of unverified information and sensational reports.
