POCACOV Flags Off Sensitisation Campaign Against Cultism in Lagos

‎The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), Lagos State Command, has officially launched it’s 2026 sensitisation programme.
‎
‎This initiative which is aimed at curbing social vices among the youth is a significant step in the command’s proactive approach to community policing and youth mentorship for the year.
‎
‎The event set the tone for a statewide series of engagements designed to educate students on the dangers of social deviance and the benefits of law-abiding citizenship.
‎
‎​The 2026 edition of the programme is centered on the theme, “Say No to Cultism and Drug Abuse.”
‎
‎This focus reflects the growing concerns regarding the influence of secret cults and the rising tide of substance abuse within the educational sector and the community as a whole.
‎
‎​The gathering which took place at Sango brought together a diverse group of students, fostering an environment of inclusivity and shared learning among the young attendees.
‎​
‎The sensitisation session saw a robust turnout from several neighboring institutions, including students from Dairy Farm, Yewa, and Unity secondary schools.
‎
‎​The event enjoyed significant institutional support, with high-level representatives from Educational District and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in attendance.
‎​
‎Leading the charge was the Lagos State POCACOV Coordinator, SP Olivia A. Ugochukwu.
‎
‎In her address, she delivered a stern warning to the students, urging them to shun cultism and drug abuse, which she described as twin evils capable of truncating promising careers.
‎
‎​Adding a specialized perspective to the discourse, Mrs. Olabode Oguntoye of the Directorate of Gender and Vulnerable Groups spoke on the importance of character.
‎
‎She emphasized that the choices made during their formative years would serve as the foundation for their future successes or failures.
